It’s no secret that all eyes are on the bride and what her dress will look like on her wedding day. Yet, with so much emphasis put on the bride and bridesmaids, I wanted to spend a moment today chatting about the other half of the bridal party. Current suit trends for grooms are some of my most favorite I’ve seen in years. Long gone are pairing tennis shoes or Converse sneakers with suits. And quite honestly, I could give all the praise hands for that trend vanishing.
It seems as if grooms are so often forgotten on a wedding day. But I can honestly say that some of my favorite photos I’ve taken are of the grooms. I thoroughly enjoy spending some time as they get ready on their wedding day, piecing their own look together, and overcoming any pre-wedding jitters. So why not give a little love to the much thought out, but rarely spoken of grooms looks for wedding days.
In 2019 we can say hello to textures, fitted suits, and the re-emergence of the three piece suit. You can also expect to see the return of classic black tuxedos. And guys, I am here. For. It.

I can’t say YES PLEASE enough to this trend! For 2019, velvet is in, you guys. And not just for grooms suits, either. Velvet bridesmaids dresses, shoes, you name it, it’s here. I absolutely loved this wine colored velvet jacket on a groom at Yonah Mountain Vineyard. It gives a rich depth to the grooms wedding day attire, providing a more elevated and sophisticated feel. And who doesn’t want to feel like they’re a step above on their wedding day?

Also on trend for grooms in 2019 are bolder hues such as burgundy, purple, and ink blue. Pair them with contrasting colors, and boom your groom is trendy A. F. (Did I just use that phrase in a blog post? I think I did.) On your wedding day I absolutely think it’s okay to wear something that is a little outside of your comfort zone. It’s the one day in your life you (brides and grooms, alike!) get to dress up, be fancy schmancy, and go all out. So why not be a little risky, wear a bolder color than you’re used to, and really make a statement.

There’s not much more sleek and sophisticated than your classic black tux. In 2019, we’ll see the reemergence of this sleek look, with more brides opting for a more traditional look and feel to their wedding party. I, for one, am a big fan of classic looks that never go out of style, and love this is making a comeback! This is one suit trends for grooms I can get behind and hop it stays!

There are some love stories you feel lucky to witness from the very beginning — and Gabby and Miles are exactly that kind of story for me. I had the joy of hiding among the vines to capture the moment Miles got down on one knee, and now, months later, I found myself standing on […]

October engagement photos at Cheekwood Estate & Gardens — Nashville, Tennessee There’s something about October at Cheekwood that feels almost cinematic. The light goes golden earlier, the gardens shift into their rich autumn palette, and the whole estate takes on this quiet, unhurried magic — which made it the absolute perfect backdrop for Jon and […]

There are venues that feel like backdrops, and then there are venues that feel like characters in the story. The Estate at Cherokee Dock is the latter — a place so layered with beauty that every turn of the grounds offered something new, something unexpected, something made entirely for photographs. — Rachael Knaak, Harp & […]
